09/04/2006 Entry: "Labor Day weekend"

Labor Day weekend is gone. Today we had the meal at AA's and the usual clan arrived. It was a small group but we had fun. I broke out the SCUBA gear today and Ben & I went diving. Water temperature is in the mid 60's so it is a little chilly. I had my full wetsuit but Ben just jumped in. We had to set up the weights since the last time I went it was salt water and it is more bouyant. I used 18# with a steel 85 cu ft tank with 2800 psi. I might need an additional couple of punds as the tank empties. The steel is about -10# fully charged and maybe -5 empty. I doubt if I have a negative 5 bouyancy now so I might float a lot when the tank empties.

VM2 & I worked on the boat Sat & Su AM. We are about 2/3 done with the cap rail - when it is done we are finished for this year. We will pull the boat and store it inside for the winter. This means the mast comes down and we need to do some work on it as well as the wiring since some of the lights do not work.

It is raining now as I write this from the boat. It is supposed to rain all night on and off. I did not have dinner but got some groceries and had nuts and hommus with a peach and blue berries (last of the season). I am listening to books on tape - The Mauritius Command by Patricj O'Brian - about a sea battle. Light listening with a British accent.
